12A - Figuring Out Buyer Behavior

Psychographic Segment

Kendall Pikowski

How much do you pay for parking?

·      I pay $150/mo. to park at the standard parking garage. I also have to pay for the student scooter decal at UF and the standard scooter decal. I think both of those combined is about $300.

Do you ever find it difficult to get around the UF’s campus?

·      I only find it difficult when I want to go somewhere on campus and it is raining.

Do you ever walk on campus?

·      I find myself scooting more than walking around on campus.

Does scooter parking ever seem to be a problem?

·     Yes, especially during very busy times. Also, scooters can get knocked over or moved and that risks you getting a ticket if they are out of the scooter parking boundaries.

Have you ever utilized the bus system at UF?

·     Personally, no. I have always lived pretty close to campus and never found it necessary. But with that being said taking the bus to me seems like a slow option with how traffic heavy all the roads are all the time.

How much do you pay for parking?

·      I live on Archer and parking is included with my rent. But I don’t have a way to park on campus without taking the bus to campus which can take a long time sometimes.

Do you ever find it difficult to get around the UF’s campus?

·     Oh, for sure. With the weather in Gainesville, the traffic, the amount of people. I feel like it is such a moving campus and so parking is always an issue and walking in 98-degree weather is horrendous. I consistently find it hard to get around, especially living off campus.

Do you ever walk on campus?

·      I walk on campus all the time. I do not really enjoy walking, but I have to.

Does scooter parking ever seem to be a problem?

·     Yes, obviously not for me. I do not have a scooter. But for a lot of my friends it seems to be extremely difficult majority of the time.

Have you ever utilized the bus system at UF?

·     Yes, I have. I live off campus, so I have to take a bus to get to campus.

How much do you pay for parking?

·      I pay $150/mo. to park at the standard parking garage. I also have to pay for the student scooter decal at UF and the standard scooter decal. I think both of those combined is about $300.

Do you ever find it difficult to get around the UF’s campus?

·      I find it difficult most times. I have been towed, had a boot on my car, and had to pay a huge fine. I always try to find a way to get around UF parking but never really get away with it.

Do you ever walk on campus?

·      I didn’t have a scooter this year, so I had to walk a lot, I hated it. I recently saved up my money and bought a scooter so now I scoot more.

Does scooter parking ever seem to be a problem?

·     Yes. Scooter parking is still a hassle during extremely busy time periods on campus.

Have you ever utilized the bus system at UF?

·      I used to like freshman year. Not anymore though.

What I found from psychographic segmentation is that my electric razor scooters would really only be for on and immediately around campus. For those students living on archer and further away it would be hard to place these electric razor scooters there and for them to be more effective than a bus system. I still think from my segmentation the scooters would be a viable option once on and around the campus but for further away students it might not be as effective as an option.

  1. Hi Emily,
I think you did a really good job at figuring out the buyer’s behavior. Mostly all of the interviewees seemed to have an issue with the parking on UF campus therefore I think they would provide a lot of support for your idea. I agree with the razor scooter option would only be convenient for students living on campus or close by campus.

  2. Hey Emily,
I like your questions you asked each of the people you interviewed here. They were very easy to understand and were directly to the point. I also liked how you asked about the common problems you see while thinking of your idea such as paying for parking and finding parking spots. This worked to your advantage very well.
