Problem: When the Secretary of State resigns for a reason such as this when there are issues such as who will take his place, why did they not vet the candidate more, and how is his position being handled while the seat is open.
Who has the problem? Florida residents, Mike Ertel’s staff, Mike Ertel, and Mike Ertel’s family.
Title: Researchers say Amazon face-detection technology shows bias
Description: A study being conducted concludes that Amazon’s facial-detection technology often misidentifies darker females as men.
Problem: The problem is that this technology is marketed to law enforcement, so it is very important that the facial-detection equipment is correct. The advocates for privacy and civil rights think that Amazon should not try to market this software because it brings up problems about discrimination against minorities.
Who has the problem? Amazon, law enforcement, minorities, advocates have a problem with the technology.
Title: Memos: Facebook allowed ‘friendly fraud’ to profit from kids
Description: Court documents revealed that Facebook allowed children playing online video games to purchase multiple things at high prices. Facebook rejected the accusations and dubbed this as “friendly fraud”.
Problem: Kids are spending money on their parent’s credit cards on virtual games and not fully understanding the repercussions and what they are doing.
Who has the problem? Facebook, kids playing online video games, parents, and other Facebook users who are subject to “friendly fraud”.
Title: Trump confidant Roger Stone arrested in Florida
Description: Roger Stone was arrested on seven-counts in Fort Lauderdale for things he did in the 2016 campaign. These things pertain to the release of the emails of Hilary Clinton and more sabotage of the democratic race.
Problem: The problem with this is if he is being arrested and is a confidant for President Trump it makes you question the stability of our government because the president’s associates are currently being accused of horrible things.
Who has the problem? The American people, the president, Roger Stone, the FBI. The list goes on.

ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading through the local news articles that you found and discussed on. One of the articles I found interesting was the one about Amazon’s face-detection being inaccurate. I could see how this could be a problem especially when it is detecting black females as males. It would definitely start a bunch of discrimination complaints. Overall, all your articles seemed interesting to read through.
